Default Need to change PSU, help?

I purchased a HP M8000 media center PC last summer, and I really need to upgrade the PSU so I can replace the graphic's card.

The current PSU is a LITEON PS-5301-08HA
DC Output: 300W
Combined Power On: +5V And 3.3V Rails Shall Not Exceed 175W Max
Combined Power On: +12V And +5V Rails Shall Not Exceed 268W Max
Continuous Total DC Output Shall Not Exceed 300W
AC Input: 100-127V - 6.0A
50/60Hz 200-240V - 3.0A

I purchased a nVidia GeForce 9600 GSO PCI-e (16x) graphic's card, to find to my dismay that HP skimped on the PSU. I would like something at least 550w PSU. However I have no clue what i need to buy/ look for in one, or which ones are good, and which aren't.

PC Specs, if that helps.

Check out the 630 watt PSU here:

630 Watt ATX Power Supply

The application list shows an HP Media Center m8000e. I can't speak to this unit's quality or reliability.

My best guess is that any name brand ATX PSU will fit your case. While there are many good brands on the market, at the moment my brain will only come up with Corsair & OCZ. Maybe someone else will jump in with more brands to recommend. Just check to make sure whichever one you choose has the same type and number of connectors as your present PSU. The 9600 will probably have a 6-pin power connection requirement, too. More than likely a new PSU will have more of each connector than yours.

Thanks so much for your help. I'm curious and wanting to learn more. How do you know what a PC needs and pin's etc? I know you can phyiscaly look for 20 or 24 pin but what about everything else?

Hello Cloud, I have deleted the other thread you made in relation to this one.

Please stick to one thread per problem, it saves a lot of unneeded work and confusion
