No Problems This is your best bet to get it going again. I don't think the PC will reboot if the hard drive is repartitioned and formatted during the re-install. Just need to boot off your windows CD and follow the prompts be sure to delete and format the partition during the reinstall process

Ohhh no >.< I did it in the wrong order I reformatted my HDD before installing windows, i figured it would be better to strat from fresh, but did it before reading your post.
Now i'm having YET ANOTHER problem haha. It seems that the system will not allow me to boot the OS installation CDs I have. I have changed the BIOS settings so that the CD drive is first, I have removed all the other hardware, I have tried a different CD, I have tried installing from USB, I have tried installing from my SATA external drive.
And the messages i get always relate to 'No OS found', or 'NTDLR missing' or 'Windows root>\system32\hal.DLL' missing.
I think i might cry. My laptop clearly hates me :P
Thankyou so much madmatt and admin for your support XX

Hello there ^^
Right, it's good news AND bad news today
I spent a good maybe 4 hours fiddling with cables, installation cds and bios settings, and FINALLY it installed windows xp YEAHHHH!
I am currently managing to keep my system running by wedging cardboard in between the hard drive and and motherboard, so i wouldn't say it was fixed, or it will last very long, but i do have a laptop back for the time being ^^
And although it's fixed now the pc was running vista before this all happened to answer your question.
Now my wireless doesn't work, and neither does my touchpad. I'm not really gutted, or suprised about either of these. The amount i have moved my motherboard around the last few weeks, something was bound to get damaged. I am now using a USB mouse, and will try using a wireless adapter this evening to see if that works
madmatt, You are a very good man indeed! Thanks for all your help. You'll probably see me post something else in the next few days, because it will have fallen apart again!
And thanks for your support too admin!

Hey Guys! Sorry about the late reply >.<
Update on my laptop is that the wireless is still not working, even with all those updates installed It also seems that some other hardware is not working also.
My keyboard works, but my wireless, my CD optical drive and my sound are also not working. I have a very basic version of windows XP on there, without any service packs on, so could this be why?
My laptop is more of a project now than a piece of equipment. I think i'm very close to giving up, because it seems that whenever i do anything to it it gets worse and worse >.< haha.
I was considering installing another XP CD i have with service packs on, to see if the version was corrupt, but the CD drive wont work for me to install it in the first place >.< haha.
Take care guys ^^ <3 Mia XX
