Hey Derek when using the diffrent power supply connections you should check with your mainboard manual before plugging something in.

Newer power supplies come with a split 20/4 pin power supply.

Some older boards have only a 20 pin however if your mainboard is a 24 pin then you use the split 20/4 pin,use both the 20 and the 4 to apply power yo your mainboard.

Now my mainboard also has 2x4 pin power connection in a seprate area on my board however I only need to use one 4 pin to run my computer as it is setup now.

Please check your mainboard maual.

JB.

Some motherboards may allow to use a 20 pin in a 24 pin board, but you have to make sure that it will work first, otherwsie you may damage your board.

well the manual says its compatible with 20pin, but system instability may occur, but ive had it on for a couple of hours without any hiccups, so should it be ok?

If its working, and the manual said its fine.. Its fine. Just dont try overclocking without a 24 pin connecter though
