Are you able to boot from XP CD?

Ok try removing all RAM I need you to test each stick individualy.Put one in and reboot see what happens then remove and try another.

When you say blank screen do you see a blinking - ?

When you see post screen is your hard drive and other hardware listed on the screen or check in BIOS?

Load fail safe defaults in BIOS.

there was only 1 stick of RAM in the PC, 512MB. But I have 2 sticks of compatible 256MB, I tried each one, separately, in each slot, still nothing.

I can not boot from CD, b/c I do not get boot up screen, it is just blank, I put the Windows CD in, and re-booted, and it spun like crazy, and all 3 lights on the keyboard flash once in a while (weird)... but, still nothing on the screen...

The monitor power light glows yellow/orange, as if it is not hooked up.

The light on font of PC flickers, as if the PC is TRYING to boot up, know what i mean?

I just don't get it... I've tried everything...

Do you think maybe the PC got hit w/ a power surge (which could be what fried orig. Power Supply) and maybe other components got fried as well?

Is there a way to test motherboard?

take her down to bare boot.

If there is onboard graphics then use it.Removing PCI graphiics card.
Remove hard drive,CD/DVD roms.
Just boot with minium boot,1 stick RAM,power supply, mainboard and of course graphics.Have you tried a diffrent cable for monitor?Have you tried a diffrent monitor?

Power surges can cause diffrent hardware damage.

I unplugged everything.. Drives, cables, etc. Only have power to the MB... stlll nothing...

I had to leave video card in (AGP card), as there is no onboard graphics.

Dos this mean the MB is shot?

Could the chip possibly be bad, and not the MB?

yes, 3 different ram sticks

No, can't enter BIOS b/c I can't see anything on the screen.

I am removing motherboard now, to see if it is easily replaceable... looks like it is, maybe i will try that.

If the processor is bad, would I be having these problems?

Motherbaords are pritty easy to replace.

Is there anyway you can test the hard drive as a slave on another computer to see if it can be opened and read?

Also test GPU etc?
