Thnx for all your replies.
I found the problem. This is gonna sound sooooooo stupid but the lead had come out of the transformer.
So it looked like it was still plugged in the back of the laptop but out of view it was disconnected. I'm writing from it now.

I don't think I've ever felt this dumb!
Anyone wanting to slap my face and laugh may do so!

Thanks tho. This forum is full of very willing &helpful folk.

Naw; all of us have had sleepless nights and troublesome days in a row just to find out it was a simple issue. ... Just be darny glady thats all it was!
