Unhappy Will not boot up after cpu fan replacement

My fan on the cpu crapped out. So the computer shut down due to overheat ( I am assuming). I tried to bring up without fan on cpu and it would start to come up then shut down. So I ordered new cpu fan. Replaced fan, now computer does not boot up at all. The computer comes on, but no video, the red light on hd blinks and the light on dvd player. I have pulled hard drive and attached to another computer via usb, the computer recognizes the drive and I can see all information on drive. I tried another power supply incase I wasn't getting enough power from old one and computer does the same thing.
I am thinking motherboard somehow messed up??

Any help would be appreciated if anyone else has had this problem.

Computer is AcerPower S285.

What Brand of CPU are you running-- and how hot did it get before it shut down ??

AMD CPU's can literally burn themselves out....there is no thermal protection.

Their system-clock's are also adjustable... which made them the favorite of "overclockers" for many years... but it also meant they spent 3-4 times the amount a normal builder would on cooling parts (fans/heatsinks/even watercooling rigs)-- because by overdriving your hardware-- you multiply the risk of serious damage by a great deal.

Intel (Pentiums) have built-in safeguards that shut the system down before such damage can occur.... but a few years back,anyway-- you could not overclock them. Safer-- but not as much "fun" to the Gamer/ Performance PC crowd.

Default Re: Will not boot up after cpu fan replacement

It is most likely Intel-- that still does not guarantee that something did not get too hot when the CPU fan was not running.
It is still possible there was damage from that incident.

You say you ordered a new CPU fan + heatsink? Did you order an exact-replacement? or a "generic" model.
When you reassembled the CPU fan-- did you clean it off and put a thin film of a good-quality thermal compound such as Arctic Silver on the heatsink surface?
Did it make good, solid contact with the CPU die surface?

With the temps that todays' Pentiums run at --you must have a thermal compound in there.

Acer's support set-up is not the easiest to find any real info on-- if you have you machine's serial number-- you can log-on to their support site and perhaps find the answers you need. This was as close as I could get...
