Default Computer Overheat when using backup cd

Hi, I figure that I'll ignore my old problem, and focus on this one. I decided to use my backup cds to get my laptop back to normal, however whenever I try to do this its overheat and shut down in the middle of process. It don't do this when I use another OS. I tried cleaning the fan, but only made 25% process. Any suggestions ?

That's weird...does the fan even come on? If it does, does it make a rattling sound?
Another possibility is to elevate the laptop so it's not sitting flat on any solid surface, that can sometimes result in overheating

The fan works at usual, the only thing under the laptop is a cooling fan.
