Dread when you installed Vista did you run there upgrade advisour first? You can put in the Vista disk and you can check your systems compatability with it.This may also give you a clue on the problem.

Did you use a Vista upgrade disk or a full install Vista disk?

If you used Vista upgrade disk it is known that you need to make sure the origonal XP is fully updated and virus clean and all its hot fix,s installed.

This is an older computer and the drivers required to run Vista on it may not be available.

Download and run this.

Download details: Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor

Let me know the results.

Make sure you are downloading and installing only Vista drivers not XP.

Check device manager for any yellow symbols.
