Is there a way to find out for sure if it is power supply or processor related? Also, my computer is somewhat old. I can't find an identical model online. What specs do I have to match between my old power supply and the new one? It has a little red switch that says 115 or 230 depending on the way it is flipped. Is that the wattage? I can't find it listed anywhere else on the box.

The op said the light comes on on the motherboard so power is getting to the board. My guess is mobo fault

Uh oh, motherboard? How hard would it be to replace that? Also, there is absolutely no noise that comes from the computer at any time. No fan or anything. Doesn't that mean that the power supply is not working? Thank you all very much for your help.

The motherboard switches the power supply on. Power is getting to the motherboard hence the led on the board. There is a chance a rail has blown in the powersupply but not totallay killed it as to allow power through it. There is also the slimmest chance of a problem with the switch on the case and then there is the Motherboard has failed. I am not ruling out any of the above and the best case senario would be the Power Supply Unit

Hi,if you plan on replacing your motherboard and you are not computer savvy this could be a little difficult. Most motherbards come with a manual but they do not give great detail. They also usaly come with a book on how to?I would sugest you pick a motherboard and see if you power supply and other computer hardware is compatable.

Also look at what you use a computer for?Do you game or just a general surfer downloader etc.
If this is just a PSU failure then please do not go for cheap ended PSUs.These are the heart of the machine and need to be of a half decent quality.
