Default [Resolved] Power Supply Unit connection - will it fit?

Hi all,
I've been looking for a new Power Supply Unit for a while now and found this baby - Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

Now if you look at the tech specs you'll see that it has 2x6pin PCI-E Power and 2x8pin PCI-E power. My problem is I'm running an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS (604MB version) and I'm sure it's a 4 pin PCI-E connection. I don't want to take the card out to check but this is fast becoming my only option. Checked the Nvidia site and couldn't find anything about the connection type. Any help would be great. Cheers

Hello Arch Enemy,

I have done tons of research short of calling up the company directly and can't find a definitive answer for you.

I am thinking you should be able to use the 6-pin PCI-E connector in the 4-pin port on the video card and it should be keyed the same way and have no problem. However, I can't say 100% for sure. I believe the 8-pin connector is specifically for powering the CPU on newer motherboards.

If you can use the 6-pin connector, you will have to check the video card to make sure there isn't any obstruction at the end of the card that will get in the way of the extra pins.

Your best bet to get a definite answer would be to contact the power supply company directly either by e-mail or phone. They should be able to tell you specifically what you will be able to do. There may be some kind of 6-pin to 4-pin converter you can get for it.

Hope that helps!

I emailed Coolermaster a while back and still no reply. I appreciate all the help you've given me but I think the only the way to sort this one out is to go inside the case. I still fail to see why big companies would fail to display this information..

Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS = a 6 pin power connection.
