[Resolved] I think I killed it....PLS HELP!!!!!!
Okay, began having issues a week ago where PC would shut itself down then power back up. Did some checking of connections then some research and thought it could be the power supply. PC is 2 years old with a 300 watt Power Supply Unit. I've upgraded the CD drive to a LightScribe DVD and added a 320gig harddrive to go along with the 80gig the unit came with in the last 6 months which also made me suspect a power issue. I went out and bought a 500 watt PSU and replaced the old one. I unscrewed the old unit, put in the new one and then replaced each connection, old to new, so I didn't miss anything. I then reconnected all my peripherals, then the power cord. Then I tried to boot my pc. Everything seemed to powerup but my screen stayed blank and my tower started beeping (1 long, followed by 2 short). They seem to be coming from the vicinity of my motherboard.........any thoughts. Please help, need to be up and running ASAP. Thanks!!!!!!!

Hello Ktm7385 and welcome to PC Help Forum.
Try pulling the video card and reseating it. I'm guessing at what your Bios is but your discription is indicitive of a video problem. The beeps are indeed coming from your motherboard. It is called a POST ( Power On Self Test). To learn more follow the link.

You are the man. It wasn't the video card, think it was one of the RAM modules, but I used the troubleshooting steps from that link u gave me and I'm back in business. Much love.

One of my few quotations --always admired that one,
I always thought was from the Bible-- but apparently it's an old Chinese proverb.

Re: [Resolved] I think I killed it....PLS HELP!!!!!!
You actually weren't wrong. According to the AMI (my BIOS maker) beep code chart, one long beep followed by two short beeps is the graphics card error code. But when I reseated the card, the error still occurred. It wasn't until I had disconnected all but one RAM module that it stopped, which is what led me to say that. ih8bills (me too, by the way) was right, it was your link that got it fixed.

Thank you Ktm7385... Tho I suspect you are a bit more computer savy than you let on. You would have gotten the problem fixed straight away without help. I am glad to have been of service in some small way.
