PC will not power on, please help
I left this morning as usual, shut down the computer. I came home, pressed the power button and got nothing. I opened it up and see that the green light on the motherboard is on. When I flip the switch in the back, I can even hear it die down. My only guess is that the wire in the power button has a bad connection. The kicker is that I was going to bite the bullet and order new parts for a new pc tonight. Is there any way to fix my pc or should I just wait for some new parts, build a new one and install my old hard drives? As always, any help is very much appreciated!

Well, if you are going to buy a new PC, wether you want to fix that one is up to you. Try unplugging it for a few minutes and plugging it back in, and try ig again.

Re: PC will not power on, please help
Hi well to see if it is related to the switch remove the power switch plug from the mainboard and contact the 2 pins with a screw driver or somthing metal for a second it sould turn on if the PC will still not turn on it's not the switch need to look at other things. May aswell rest the bios while you there and see if it boots

Re: PC will not power on, please help
lol no i dont work for them. But, i changed my mind, use that power supply, but this case instead. Its just cool looking. lol Newegg usually has the best prices, but not always Newegg.com - GIGABYTE iSOLO GZ-AA1CB-SNB Black Aluminum Front Panel/ 0.7mm SECC Housing ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail
and if you are willing to spend a little more on Power Supply Unit, get this one .
Newegg.com - ENERMAX MODU82+ EMD525AWT ATX12V Ver.2.3 525W Power Supply UL, cUL, TUV, CB, RoHS - Retail
Enermax is a very good brand, and that is one of their new power supplies.

Re: PC will not power on, please help
OK, one more question then. I currently had a 60gb hd with another 300gb hd as a slave. Can I just move these into the new pc and have it boot that way?

Re: PC will not power on, please help
if you move them in to another PC you will have to do a repair install of windows to get it working

Re: PC will not power on, please help
Should I be concerned that I might have lost all my files? Like I said- I shut it down normally so this did not happen while it was running. I'm hoping to set the hard drive as slaves and transfer over to the new hard drive.

Re: PC will not power on, please help
you should have no problems doing that as long as there is nothing wrong with the harddrive itself.
