Question PSU Dead...i think

I have recently built a PC...http://www.pchelpforum.com/show-off-...amd-build.html

Its been fine for months never had a problem, but yesterday i was on it from 5:30pm - 1:30am and it just shut off.
My PSU is a meesley 230V and I play a lot of games,(crysis, COD4 etc)

For the duration of last night i was reading and posting on this forum and others, while in a conference call on skype with three freinds and we were all playing UT 3.

(back to today)

Now when I turn my computer on nothing happens at all, the fans dont start neither does the HDD, and neither the power or HDD l.e.d show.

Is this just a case of buying a new PSU or are there greater problems, my thought was a new bigger PSU.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is probably what it is. First though, make sure all connections inside the case are tight. Especially the Main Power Connector. If not, i recommend this one.

ENERMAX Liberty AWT500ELT 500watt ATX12V Power Supply

You said its 230 VOLTS?? You're looking for the WATTAGE to get the power output, the voltage is fixed for your region.

The last time you were using it, did u hear a pop or smell something burning?? i have blown up several PSU's, not in a computer, but by using them to do random things, and when one dies, there will normally be a small pop or fizzle, accompanied by the smell of burning electronics.

There are ways to test PSU's, but i am not the best person to instruct you on how to do so, you would probably be better off googling the subject

The only was to test it is to try it in another computer but if its bad, it could potentially fry it. Im changing my recommendations to this one.

ENERMAX Noisetaker II EG495P-VE ATX12V 485W Power Supply - Retail
