Default PC wont start up

Alright so when i press the power button on my computer tower the fans run continuously, the light on my power button doesnt turn on, and basically nothing happens except for my fans turning on. My monitor works perfectly. so i dont know what to do. any help please? i have windows XP if that help at all. and i tried shutting the power strip off and back on and that doesnt help. any suggestions?

Hi welcome to PCHF Sounds like it maybe a Power Supply Unit issue. But the first thing to try would to open the PC and unplug all cards and memory and plug them back into there origial positions then try boot it could be a contact problem. try this first . Unplug the power first of cause

ok i tried that and made sure the memory cards were secure. but it didnt fix the problem. any other suggestions? and thanks for the help

Try clearing the CMOS. Look for a set of jumpers on the motherboard that will say something like CLR CMOS, or CLR BIOS, or CMOS or something. when the computer is unplugged, switch it over for a minute, then put it back and try again.

clearing the CMOS didnt work. and what do yuo mean try a new power unit supply?
