hi all been a while since i've been on here.

JUST BLOWN UP MY PSU!!!!
GUTTED, SHOCKED AND SCARED.

basically just set up watercooling on cpu, had a small leak which got into psu and only psu and... bonfire night came early, bang and blue flash...sheite...

specs as follows
striker extreme
qx6850
2 x 8800 ultra superclocked
4gb ocz reaper 800
2 150gb raptors
1 160 deskstar
seperate watercooling on gpu's (swiftech)
watercooled cpu (swiftech)
and ... a dead enermax galaxy 1kw......

WB bornslippy..glad you like the new look

I won't give you false hope and say that everything should be fine but there is a glimmer of a chance that the PSU blew before it had a chance to get to the mobo...ram...expansion cards etc. At the same time, it's true that the only way you're going to know for sure is to replace the PSU (or transplant the parts to another PC) and pray to whoever you pray to

I tried watercooling once. It was fine for a while but I got fed up with the total disruption every time I needed to do something simple like change a fan or RAM dimm or something. Personally, I think you got away lightly and you should be really happy that you are alive and kicking right now.

Whilst watercooling is a great way to get those temps down, I now believe that (even for the very BEST of reasons) water and electricity are never meant to live together in close proximity.

i agree fully... am praying to all gods...
went to watercooling due to where my pc is placed. not much ventilation at rear due to being in a purpose built cupboard.
was having some serious heat built up from the videocards and no escape for the hot air.
got rad in front and on top of case.. had to put a 2 watercooling settups in as cpu was getting to 60degs being on same line as ultras.
cheers man for a bit of hope.
fingers x'd.

am in process of finding new psu, whats the best one for my system?
will probably buy same psu again but it doesn't seem to pump out the full 12v for the gpu's about 11.6 with this one rma'd last one due to only having 9.8..

It'll be easier if you fill out the fields in this Power Supply Unit calc--Since you built it-- you'll know all those little details. Be sure to include all your hardware... and good luck to you . Actually-- for the 2 bucks it costs-- it might be worth it for a setup like yours to use their "pro" service-- it should narrow the field better.
