i have a Sony Vaio PCV-RS 530G Desktop thats about 3-4 years old. a long time a go it just started shutting down. so we restored/reformated it. recovery wizard or whatever, and itll go like a day without shutting down but all the sudden it starts happening all over again. on task manager the CPU Usage % sky rockets. if anyone can tell me what the problem is id really appreciate it, thanks

First thing to check is whether it is spyware-related.. please go to the prework link form my sig below-- follow all directions/post a log into HJT logs forum just to be sure.

im pretty sure its not spyware. ive run the recovery wizard plenty of times to the factory default, and it still happens

It is still a possibility that your computer is infected. There is such a thing as an infection that can survive a format (my dad's computer had one, actually) and if you don't have a Firewall, Antivirus, and AntiSpyware, you'll last on average somewhere around 12 minutes connected to the internet before getting infected.

As ih8bills said, it's just to be sure, so please do the Prework as he requests and post back with the results.
