Default [Answered] Need a software fan controller (?)

Lately one of my fans (either CPU or chipset) has got into the habit of speeding up and slowing down, over and over and over. It's almost like it's reaching some critical heat level, then speeding up and cooling the component down then going back to normal speed. I don't mind turning my fans up a bit if it means they'll stop doing this as it's kind-of like hearing a mini airplane taking off over and over and over again.

So I think I need, and am looking for, some kind of software based fan controller software. I _used_ to use ITE Smart Guardian, but it kept crashing and didn't seem to want to save my settings. Right now my fans are being controlled by the motherboard itself which, by the way, is a DFI Ultra-D.

Any recommendations?

Hi There Joe,
May I suggest you take a look at speed fan,SpeedFan is an hardware monitoring software, but its main feature is that it can control the speed of the fans (depending on your sensor chip) according to the temperatures inside your pc, thus reducing noise and power consumption. Link is below.

|MG| Free Download - SpeedFan 4.32

Recently I had a problem in regards to the fans sounding as if they wanted to take off and to rectify it I replaced the fan on my CPU,I now find I have no more loud fan noise.

See how you go with SpeedFan,this may help you in your problem, one of PCHF Techs may be able to help you further when one becomes available or online.

Thank you

yeha, speedfan works great, you just have to remember to switch the sensor chips fan controls over to manual. lol
