Default [Answered] 3 pin fan on 4 pin power connection

this is just a quickie, but i want to add another case fan in front of my hdd and the fan uses a 3 pin plug, but the only available thing on the mobo is 4 pin. can i connect it and expect it to work? i just dont want to try it and end up shorting my board. thanks again

Hi AW_3_3,

Welcomr to The PCHF!

There shouldn't be a problem at all, as long as you connect the fan plug the right way around onto the board. It should only fit one way with a small plastic guide on the motherboard side to help.

thanks. why does eveyrone think i am a newb? lol i have been here since november!! XP By the way it works. there is jsut no showing up in system monitor is all but no problem.
