Default Overheating? or not.....

HI, i'll get straight down to the point. When running 3D apps (e.g world of warcraft) my PC starts to make beeping sounds, especially if I press the start menu key on the keyboard. With this, comes a jump from my usual graphics card temperature (about 68C) to about 110C instantly (according to atitool and catalyst). My PC then proceeds to slow itself down and for each beep it makes untill satisfied, this can be any amount which can leave me with quite a low FPS. I'm pretty sure its not actually overheating though as i'v got many fans in the case and even took off the side of it and put a large house fan on it, still 110C. Now, as i'm writing this, im not running any 3D apps and both readings are still showing 110C and not budging, which, as far as I know, has never happned before. So,now i really am confused. Please help, thanks.

Ouch!!!!!, i don't think your graphics card will last much longer at that tempreture,

i'll try to get a tech to look at this,

Do you know if the fans are still working?
Do you do any overclocking?.

Bugsey.

Welcome to PCHF megagold!

Normally the slowdown threshold for graphics cards is around 130 C which it is on mine, although if you are just idling the temps wouldnt normally be that high. Could you answer these questions for me please:

1. Do you get any beeps on startup?
2. Do you get any Blue Screen's of Death? (if so please follow the BSOD's link in my sig and post up the results here)
3. What are the temps of your CPU and motherboard - are they high too?

Looking forward to your reply,

Chris

For Bugsey: All fans are working, I did a little overclocking of my processor a while back, but set everything back to default shortly after because I didnt really understand it fully.

For Upgrader764: I get 1 single beep on the moment of startup, I havn't had a BSoD in a few months and the temps of my motherboard and CPU vary between about 40C and about 55C (according to speedfan) (being higher when running 3D apps).

Is this a long beep or a short beep?

The CPU and motherboard temps seem OK, and they will be higher during gaming/3d applications.

Just a quick, maybe 1sec beep.
