i have WS_FTP and SmartFTP, although i use WS_FTP as my normal and SmartFTP to delete folders (as WS_FTP cannot delete a folder with stuff in it)

Oh, I am using the evaluation copy of WS_FTP Pro and it does let u do a lot more to the folders etc..including deleting folders with files in.

I don't have a website so no FTP thingy for me yet.

When I get a website I will know where tocome for recommendations though huh?
