Ok Try this.

Please go HERE to run Panda ActiveScan 2.0
  • Click the big green Scan now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • Once the scan is completed, please hit the notepad icon next to the text Export to:
  • Save it to a convenient location such as your Desktop
  • Post the contents of the ActiveScan.txt in your next reply

Thanks Crush - all still running fine since I updated Google Chrome.

Prior to that the problem would disappear for a a week or more at a time, then return again, so I'm still not sure that it's permanently resolved.

If you're satisfied with the way things are running,

Please download and run OTC (formerly OTCleanIt) from here:
http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTC.exe

Click the Clean Up! button
This will remove any files and folders associated with some of the more destructive programs I have had you run
A reboot will be required to complete the removal.

If you have no further questions or issues I'll move this to the Fixed Logs forums. Feel free to come back if it crops up again
