hey guy's, am new to this pc thing. i was sent here by valis, because my pc has been run slow, it take sec sometimes mins to respond. i just got the new norton 360 and it still slow. plz can anyone help

Please do this:

· Click here to download HJThis.exe
· Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
· Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
· By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
· Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
· Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
· Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
· At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
· Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
· Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
· Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
· DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Instead of combofix, let's try a quick (relatively speaking; it will take a couple hours) on line scan:

Using Internet Explorer, visit Free Virus Scan - Kaspersky Lab

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.

• The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
• Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    • Extended
  • Scan Options:
    • Scan Archives
    • Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK & have it scan My Computer
• Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
• Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
• Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

That's not that bad, Hans....most of the stuff you got off of limewire. You need to uninstall that application, and not use it, or any other, P2P software. They are just breeding ground for viruses.

Click start > run > appwiz.cpl > scroll down to limewire, and remove it. Then right click start > explore > navigate to program files and delete the lime wire folder. Then, while still in explorer, navigate to and delete the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\LimeWire\ <-- entire folder

Next, navigate to and open the folder c:>recycler. Delete all files in there that do not have today's date on them. This will also clear up a crapload of disk space.

Next, close explorer, right click on my computer > properties > system restore tab > tick the button marked 'turn off system restore' and hit okay. You will be prompted with a warning stating that all existing restore points will be deleted, just hit okay, and then hit apply and okay. Then repeat the process above and UNtick the box to turn the restore points back on.

Finally, Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

• Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  Under Main choose: Select All
  Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

• Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
