Default Which of these systems is better, and why?

Although I'm aware that everything has to work together as a system for maximum efficiency, to a begginer like myself, this still appears to be a processor question. I'm currently looking at two desktops with similar specs and pricing. I'm not a gamer, but my goal is to buy the one that can handle the most tasks without bogging down. That's where your help is needed. Here's the two systems:

(Sorry, I couldn't find bus speeds)

1) This Lenovo 3000 H210 53553PU Desktop Computer gives you the Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHz processor, 4GB of DDR2-667 memory, a 500GB SATA hard drive and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. All running with the smooth Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

2) This higher-end Lenovo K230 desktop computer gives you the Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 2.5GHz, 6GB of PC2-6400 DDR2 memory, a 640GB SATA II hard drive and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator integrated graphics. All running with the smooth Microsoft® Windows® Vista Home Premium operating system.

Again, just trying to see which of these would do tasks more quickly. I'm really confused by the different processors.

Thanks for all helpful replies!

Hello Argybargy and welcome to PCHF,

For general purpose work and low resolution gaming (anything @ 1024x768 or lower on low/medium settings), the E5200 would probably be the better choice.

However, if you've got the money then get the E7400 as it's better and will overclock to around 4Ghz quite easily (if you are considering it). But even you're on a budget, then the E5200 is an awesome chip which can hit around 3.5Ghz on the stock cooler itself and 4Ghz with some proper cooling.

So i would say option 2, its got more RAM and a bigger HDD.

Samir_ali786,
Thanks for responding to my inquiry!

I've found a little more information about the components; I'll be curious if they change any opinions out there. Again, price will not enter into my decision as they're within $30.00 of each other. The goals is to determine which of the two systems is going to process its computer duties more quickly.

As my description shows, I'm still a novice at this stuff, but to my way of thinking, the processor and front bus speed of the first unit overcome the slight memory advantage (capacity and speed) of the 2nd unit. If I'm wrong. tell me why. Sometimes the best thing one can do is learn from smarter people.

· 4GB of DDR2-667 memory (667 million data transfers per second)
· 500GB SATA hard drive and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator.
· Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

2) This Lenovo K230 ThinkCentre desktop computer features:
· Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 2.5GHz
· 800 MHz FSB
· 6GB of PC2-6400 DDR2 memory (800 million data transfers per second)

I would say system 2 but add 64-bit Windows 7RC (for free right now) and also change up the graphics card....

Hello once again,

I still think option 2 will be best.

Sam.
