Hi and welcome to PCHF, i will try my best to fix ur problem, it seems anyway to only be a matter of ur computer not supporting it

there is a chance that if ur computer can not handle the cpu core u put in it has a feature that is ticked for if there is a system error or malfunction for it to restart, otherwise if this feature was disabled, ur computer would have all sorts of problems like constant error messages and disturbing freeze times. I recommend upgrading ur computer so it supports the newly installed hardware

or if u really want to take the risk disable the feature by going to START/MY COMPUTER (RIGHT CLICK)/PROPERTIES/ you will now be in the general tab now go to the ADVANCED tab, then start up and recovery click on settings, then untick automatically restart, apply the settings and restart the computer.

HOPE THIS HELPS

stargatesg1,

To make it easier for this and future assistance will you post your system specs to let those who will help you in the future know what you have??

After signing in, click User CP, find & click Edit Options in the lefthand column, then scroll down to the block titled: Thread Display Options. Be sure to choose YES in the window to allow others to view your system specs, then fill in the required information. Doing this will save lots of time and needless questions in the future. This info will be available to all by clicking on My PC which will then be displayed near your Username.

Thanks............

I do not recommend you disabling the Automatic Restart.
That would be removing the symptom not the cause.

Cobracon gave you a good suggestion. By providing us with the details of your system, if you have an incompatability in your system this will tell us.

Recommend you click on the What's inside my PC link in my signature.
Run the scan (it's free). It will identify all the hardware names and numbers for you. Then, you can copy the information into the User CP.

i have a ASUS A8N-SLI premium 939 socket mobo and had a 3200 (not 3800) single core 2.0GHz CPU and upgraded to a 4200 AMD x2 2.2GHz which is running fine atm but i downloaded a program to test my CPU speed and it is saying that the 4200 is runnning at 2211.4 MHz atm and when you check there website for other peoples resoltes there is a 3800 2.0GHz AMD 64 x2 running at 4154Mhz which is alot more then what my 4200 is running at. so could this just be a defective CPU??

The stock clock speed for your CPU is 2.2GHz, so whatever test you ran on your speed is correct.

Over 4GHz with ANY 2.0GHz CPU requires major overclocking skills and tools.
