Cool CPU at 100%

Hey ya'll

Well recently I started noticing that on every start up, my cpu reaches 100%

I was figuring out the possibilities and found out that its actually a process from my HP software *(for my printer) svchost.exe (I followed the path and it lead to me what was hogging my resource)

Anyone have any idea as to why it peaks like that? or how to prevent it from peaking?

Also, I don't experience any noticeable performance difference while browsing or just flying through my computer. It's just scary to know its at 100 lol

Thanks

Default Re: CPU at 100%

I wouldn't be concerned, mine does that as well, it's just because it's trying to do all the start-up tasks at once.
I suppose if you really wanted to address this you could open up msconfig (start-->Run-->Type "msconfig" and hit enter) and disable any unnecessary programs under the startup tab

Default Re: CPU at 100%

No prob
Mine peaks because I have a lot of programs that open on startup (AVG8, Spybot, ZonaAlarm, WinLIRC, Speedfan, and Desktop Weather) but it only lasts a moment...then it slows down to about 5ish until I do something

If your CPU is running at 100% all the time-- there may be some application that is "hung"
Press Ctrl/Alt/Delete-- all at once
this opens Task Manager.
under processes tab- scroll down the list... look for anything hogging CPU cycles-- post back here if you find anything using a huge percentage--copy the name of the process in your post--so we can figure it out.
