Default Start up Issue-just built-new

I just put my computer together with all the components. My mob is a GA-P35-DS3L/S3L(Gigabyte). My other components are Corsair 450W PS, 2 DDR's 1gb each(Kingston),Seagate HD. I also installed a e-GeForce 8500GT Graphics Card. My CPU is an Intel Dual Core & my fan for the CPU is a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for Intel Socket 775. I'm using an older monitor for now till I can afford an a new screen. When I turned the computer on for the first time, it started up then cut out & restarted. Nothing came up on the monitor, but noticed the monitor light was flashing green. I doubled checked my connections & they were good. I tried it a couple of times, but same results, it would start, then cutout, then restart, flashing green light on the monitor, black screen. A few things I observed during the initial start up was the the CPU fan was not turning & the fins were heating up on this fan. Everything else seemed to be OK, the other fans were working the DVD drives seemed to be working, the doors would open close. I tried unplugging the cpu fan for 5-10 sec but same result. My question is, Is the CPU fan defective, & would this effect the video on the monitor. If anybody would help me out on on this issue would be much apprieciated. Thanks

Hello,ok you have connected 24 pin power supply?Have you connected 4 pin power supply to mainboard?

This could be CPU cooling issue?

Do you have another cooler to test?

Did you add thermal paste to CPU?

Double check all your connections and make sure GPU and CPU are seated correctly?

I will double check my cpu connections & check if they are seated right. I didn't get any thermal paste with my cpu or fan. Does this make a big difference? Does the seating & paste prevent the fan from operating? I will buy some paste next week when I go out of town. Not much in our town. I was wondering when I head out of town if I need a new cpu fan as well as the paste. Thanks for your help.

If you checked your CPU connections are correct but if you did not add thermal paste this maybe the problem of CPU not working it is over heating?

You need thermal paste.

Check all connections and see if fan spins. However the fan blades are warm or hot to touch?

I'll disassemble the cpu & buy some thermal paste. I assume you put it on the top part of the cpu where the fan goes. I never ran it very long so I know there would be no heating damage. Is there any other type paste a person could use? Thanks
