Default New CPU crashes during gaming

I have a home built computer (specs below), and i just recently replaced my AMD AM2 Athlon 2600+ processor with an Athlon X2 4600+ dual core AM2. Everything ran properly before I upgraded the cpu.

Everything runs fine, except while playing games. When I play half life 2, I get a variety of crashes that did not happen before. Sometimes the program just stutters and crashes out, sometimes my whole computer restarts, and sometimes I get blue screens of death. They happen after random times of playing, ranging from 15 minutes to two hours.

The error message I received during the blue screen of death was the following:

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I RMAed the first processor, but the new one has the same issues.

How can I resolve this issue?

My Specs:
CPU: AMD AM2 Athlon X2 4600+
Motherboard: Biostar TForce4 AM2
VC: ATI Radeon x850XT PCIx16
RAM: 2 GB (2x1) DDR2
HDs: 60 GB drive and a 750 GB HD
Power Supply Unit: mushkin enhanced power supply 550W

Ahh I forgot, I am running Windows XP SP2. I only received one blue screen of death, most of the time its a quick stutter followed by a reset.

And I did not write down the numbers

Ok click start then run and type in box msconfig this should give you errors or go to event viewer under comouter management and you can look for error codes there?

Did you install new CPU driver when you put in the new one?

Default Re: New CPU crashes during gaming

First, I have installed the latest cpu drivers from AMD.

Ok, here are a couple error codes that I could find:

When windows restarts, it tells me that my computer has just recovered from a serious error. And Under the information for the error report it gives me the following information:

The system has recovered from a serious error.

BCCode : 1000008e BCP1 : C000001D BCP2 : 8060D375 BCP3 : A918ACC8
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

Also, under the events log, I went to the ACEEventLog tab, and it appears that there are constant errors every 3-10 seconds being logged. The last one that logged before my computer crashed and restarted was:

0000000010: 2008-03-29 17:56:15:578 Exception <atixcode.dll>: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {981145A7-E08E-48F3-A1C4-52C28BCAAAF9} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

Also, some other random samplings of the other error logs:

0000000009: 2008-03-28 17:49:50:031 Shell cannot load CasteList entry 0 called WZ_HVCaste

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this information helps.

Thanks a lot for spending time on my problem.

Well looking at some of your error codes?with smileys in is not good?

Please download ALL the latest drivers for your machine.Use device manager to install them.

Having difficulty in deciphering with those in it.
Can you post proper error codes and each one on its own line with a decent space between them.

PRB: Server Object Error 'ASP 0177:80040154' Server.CreateObject

However your settings on your graphics card are set wrong from what I can guess on this problem. There is hardware conflict proberly the new CPU?

Did you install the correct drivers for that CPU,graphics card etc?

I need proper codes to deal with this.

Are these example error codes or your actual error codes?

In some games ( Flight Sims Mostly ) there is a timing problem between the 2 cores

Read and install as you feel needed

ok here is a repost of the error of what I think corresponded to the crash and restart while playing a game. (The game was Half life 2 DM).

Under the events log, I went to the ACEEventLog tab. The last error event that logged before my computer crashed and restarted was:

"0000000010: 2008-03-29 17:56:15:578 Exception <atixcode.dll>: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with

CLSID {981145A7-E08E-48F3-A1C4-52C28BCAAAF9} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

Exception Called by: ATI.ACE.CLI.Aspect.TransCode.Graphics.Shared.TC_Co mponent::CheckTrancodeComObject

processID:03944 threadID: (CCCThreadNew:Wizard) domainName: (ccc.exe ) assemblyName:

(CLI.Aspect.TransCode.Graphics.Shared, Version=2.0.2858.39454, Culture=neutral PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762e)"

I re-installed the drivers for my video card, and I have the latest bios for my motherboard, and I am still receiving these random crashes during graphics intensive games.

Ok there maybe a driver conflict or graphic card setup.

Also try this click on start then run type in box Dxdiag.See what that comes up with.

I ran Dxdiag and no problems were found after running every test.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest ATI drivers.

I have flashed my bios with the latest updates.

I have installed the latest drivers from the AMD website for my cpu.

If there is a driver conflict, how do I fix it?

Thanks again for spending time reading my problem.
