Default Processor overheating problems

Ok, so after five hours of playing World of Warcraft with a bunch of tabs open in Firefox, while downloading and going in and out of the game while it is in full screen mode, my brother over heated my processor!

This happened at 1 in the morning and this morning before school, I tried to turn it on and when I got to my desktop it crashed again, and before that I got a little black and white message before windows booted telling me what happened. I decided to let it be until I got back and make sure it got cooled down to room temp.

I come home and I turn it on, it's acting fine, I'm not doing too much on it and after a couple minutes, it just freezes and my wireless mouse stops working and my keyboard stops working. I try to shut it off manually through the button on the front and that isn't working so I had to shut it off from the switch on the Power Supply Unit.

I turned it on once more to see if it was a fluke and I try to log into my windows account and it freezes again, blah blah blah.

I don't know what to do. Do you think it's completely lost all hope and I should just buy a new processor? (I hope not, because I sure don't have that kind of money.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Query: Are you over-clocking your processor?

Answer: Nope.

Activity since last post: Tried again and got on for about 7 minutes before it froze again.

Boot up in the SAFE mode.
Does it freeze in the SAFE mode?

I think so. I tried to and when I was prompted to either click yes or no if I wanted to go into safe mode or restore to another point, It just froze.

This is when I noticed that my Power Supply Unit was still on, but nothing else in my computer was getting power.

I replaced that Power Supply Unit with an extra 400w one and now everything seems like normal.

Is it possible that the overheating of my processor caused my Power Supply Unit to die?

(I hate to keep going all over the place with this thing. So if I am just hopping around, I apologize.)

Asking questions like "what is possible" is like asking "how high is up".
If replacing your Power Supply Unit with a more powerful unit solved your problem, then your original PSU was probably to weak for what you were using your system for.

If your computer freezes again or you have a new symptom, let us know.

Good Luck...

Thanks for the help!
Actually, the unit I replaced was 700w.
Everything works fine now.

When you get to windows, download speedfan from my signature, and see if any temperatures are abnormally high. specifically anything over 60 degrees Celsius. Also, try vacuuming the dust out of your computer, especially the CPU heatsink and fan.
