I have Slot 1 processors of the following: 400mhz Intel Pentium 2 and 400mhz Intel Celeron, which is better, just out of curiosity?

Generally Pentium will beat Celeron--
Depends on the Front Side Bus speed to some degree.

That's one of the things that makes 'em better-- I have never seen anyone brag about their Celeron...
They're OK if all you want is websurfing/shopping/email... and some folks do just that-- but for anything serious... they are slowwwwww

I hear you there. I had a pentium 2 for about 4 years and a pentium 3 for about another year. Then I got this AMD Turion X2. =]

They were/are used in E-machines PCs, that should have tipped me off............................

You know, I bought a refurbished Emachines PC for my kids to use-- it has an AthlonXP (2800 ?)... and I have never had a single issue with it in 4 years.It's no gaming rig-- but it works well/ is pretty fast. CD burner + DVD drive

I opened the case to clean it out-- and it is nicely assembled, too.
everything is very neat & well mounted-- wires out of the way.
Bought it from Tiger Direct--for about $400 + 50 for a refurb Dell monitor.

Oh, and that was with all the Software installed, too. XP home+ all kinds of stuff.
