You had me scared there for a second! I thought I was going to have to return it once I got it. Where did you find information on my motherboard? O=

If you bought a much faster processor you may need a better cooler. Newegg.com - TR2TT TR2-M12 80mm Ball CPU Cooler - Retail

I'm upgrading from a 1.7 to 2.8. I'll keep an eye on the temp. Another quick question and I'll let ya go for two days. Where exactly under the heatsink is the temperature gauge supposed to go? I accidently put a couple small dents in the heatsink b/c the temperature gauge wire got stuck under it. Not sure if that's a problem. I should probably just buy that cooler that linked me to.

yes if you dented it, dont use it, it will create a pocket of air for heat to be trapped in. What temperature wire? there should be a temperature diode under the processor in the processor socket itself.

Is the memory bad? that configuration of lights indicated a memory fault.

I didn't touch the memory before and those lights still came on. The memory was working fine. I just installed my 2 gigs though. Could you suggest anything I should take a stab at?

My motherboard is f****d, isn't it?

****! I just broke the piece off of my ram slot that secures the card in place. Can I use the 3rd spot to put the 2nd card or do I need a whole new motherboard? =/

Update: Just broke the 1st one by accident, too. So now my 1st and 2nd slots are messed up. I have an old MSI motherboard but I don't know if you can interchange the slots. I guess I'm going to have to find a way to hold these cards down.

You should be able to put them in the other 2 slots.

I just broke the 1st one. So now the 1st and 2nd one are broke. I guess I need to find a way to secure the cards in there or get a new motherboard? I'm taking it to the local PC shop right now so he can take a look at it.
