Lightbulb AMD 6400+ running HOT 52C

I have a AMD 6400+x2 and a Gemini ll cooler from cool Master. The grease is arctic silver 5. When I play games of do cpu intensive tasks, it does not matter is its on one or both cores, the cpu temp reaches a max of 55c and the Motherboard gets to 44c. Is this normal? I heard that the 6400 is a beast and runs hot but is this too hot?

Lets say the fans all die at the same time and it gets to around 85 then freezes and reboots, how much damage could that give?

a good bit. it depends what the motherboard is set to shut down at. but the liklihood of that happening is not very high. Trust me, 55 is not hot. right now im watching videos online, and even with the fan at 1600 RPM (120mm fan) my processor is hovering around 59 degrees.

What can happen to a 12v fan if you fun it at 24?

If you worried about it you could upgrade the cooler I wouldn't suggest upping the voltage

yea if your running that hot, i would get a new cooler, and reapply the Arctic Silver 5 in a very thin layer.

What do you mean by thin layer? When I applyed it I place about the size of a BB then put the cooler on it so it spreads out, then I checked for coverage and saw that I needed more on the side so I put more. Was this a mistake? should I have left it and it would have spread out?

thats where the mistake was made. once you put it on, dont take it off, air gets in and takes away the effectiveness. remove it all carefully using Rubbing alcohol and a lint free (or paper towel) cloth, and reapply. I apply it in a thin layer using a card (old library, credit, trading card) works fine. it will not come off said card, so make sure you dont need it. Spread it out in a very thin, consistent layer, and attatch the heatsink. dont remove it.

Do that exact same thing but use your finger to spread it all over the cpu...The heat of your cpu is too hot for just being on..Mine runs at around 29c and 42 under heavy load..You need a good heatsink and fan...

Here is what I have
Newegg.com - ZEROtherm BTF90 92mm Silent UFO CPU Cooler - Retail

Works wonders. But the case plays a role as well. I have 7 120mm fans in mine and you want more fans sucking air out than in....
