Default Bad PCU = Fried MoBo???

I bought a used e6750 and installed it on a new 680i lt with 2x7900gs ko. 2x1gb 6400 ram and 1 WD HDD. When I turned it on for the first time it said something about the cpu and maybe something else and I needed to do a hard boot. So I powered off the computer waited about 15 seconds and powered it back on again with my windows xp cd in the drive. It powered on properly and went into the windows xp installation setup. Then I deleted the partition on the hdd(which was odd because it only showed half of the drive as being there). When I tried to format the drive the whole thing froze. I restarted it but nothing showed up on the screen. I switched out the cpu back to my old p4 630@3.0ghz which resulted in the same scenerio. Thinking that maybe my gpu bit the dust i switched it down to one gpu and that didn't work so I switched it out and put in my old geforce 6600, which i know works. However, it didn't work. Nothing seems to be working. Is it possible the old e6750 (which came dented and chipped) shorted out my MoBo and I need to replace the MoBo now?(along with the e6750.

PS: Is it ok to put the e6750 (1333mhz) in a pf5 extreme motherboard (fsb up to 1066)? I'm going to put everything back onto my old motherboard until i get some feedback just to make sure my vga's and p4 630 are still in working order.

I wouldnt put the 6750 in anything in that condition. It is entirely possible the the motherboard may be bad now. No, i wouldnt run the 6750 in it, because im pretty sure it doesnt support the C2D, and it definetly doesnt support the FSB.

I hope he takes it back(ebay), I have his address if he doesn't. I live in cincinnati and he lives in chicago. It's only a 6 hour drive, and I have friends up there so, I can stay the night

For the record, don't use cpu's that come with chips and dings in them, especially on brand new motherboards.

PS: Everything works fine in my old motherboard, aside from the e6750 which i haven't tried.
