Default Help buying a new CPU

Hey, I currently have a Intel Pentium 4 with a FBS of 800, and I was wanting to upgrade that to a core 2 duo. But I wasn't sure if I had to match the FSB or if I could go higher.
Thanks,
AMcB

Hello AMcB, welcome to PCHF! Could you please tell me the make/ model of your motherboard? It is a compatability with the Motherboard, not the processor. If you do not know, please download Everest from my signature, and look under motherboard. Thanks.

Unfortunately, no it does not. However, you can upgrade how much memory it has, which would make a real difference in how fast it is. You could also get a better graphics card if you want to game.

Yes. If you were going to buy a new motherboard though, it would be prudent to get a new case and everything. But first, tell me all of what you have. If you are going to replace your motherboard and CPU, tell me what your graphics card is, (im assuming its an AGP so you will have to buy a new PCIe 16 card. What kind of memory (type, speed, amount, brand, model) you have, your harddrive... Everything. If you are going to do that, you might as well do a full new build. You decide what you want to do, and get back to me.
