I basically want to get new everything except a harddrive I have a 160gb SATA HD with XP Installed in my Dell, I also have a PCI Graphics card but I'm not worried about getting a better one, I am using this computer for audio production. I was looking at barebones kits, but I wasn;'t sure if there was anything technical involved wit hthat or if I just basically put it together.

you have a PCI graphics card? =O *whistles* ok, give me your price range, and i will put together a list for you. If you are doing audio production, you will be needing a very good sound card, and good processor power. just state your price range, and i'll get right on it.

Actually I don't need a sound card at all, I have one that plugs in using firewire, and I have a firewire PCI card as well. I'm really not wanting to spend much, probably like $300. I really would like to make it as easy as possible to build, cause this is my first time. Once again I really appreciate your help.

Actually, the motherboard i recommended here has a fantastic onboard sound, the ALC889a, which is very good. I recommend using that.

Newegg.com - Antec earthwatts EA380 ATX12V v2.0 380W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, FCC, TUV, CE, CB, C-tick, CCC - Retail. You might not need it though. What psu do you currently have?

mine is a 230 watt. and i have another question, will i have to format my sata hd, when installing it in the new system? if so how would i do that?
