Hello everybody,
I just installed a new AMD Athlon X2 6400+ AM2
cpu, and most of the time it works fine, however I get random crashes at random times, mostly under high loads. Under stress, the
cpu temperature does not go above 40oC. The crashes include the program just crashing (Half life 2 DM), random computer restarts with no errors, and the occasional blue screen of death.
I have used the program orthos to stress test my
cpu. I ran it for an hour with 0 errors and 0 warnings.
My guess is that the
PSU isn't powerful enough to handle everything. I am getting random errors, most commonly when the
cpu is under high stress... and requires the largest power demands, and when the HD's, and video cards are being taxes as well. I detached my 750 GB SATA drive to see if it made a different, and it did not.
What does everybody else think?
Thanks a lot for your time,
