A friend has a Amberine M 1.03 motherboard. Athlon 64 3700 cpu. Can he upgrade to a dual core 4200?

Heya,

There's little info to go on, but I'm guessing it's an Athlon 64 3700 Socket 754? If it is, the Athlon 64 X24200 (I'm guessing that's what you mean) is a socket AM2, so it won't fit

You might be able to.It depends on if the motherboard is socket 939 or 754.If its 939 then you could upgrade to a 3800+ because the 4200+ 939 version isnt made anymore.

It's a socket 939 and newegg has one available.

It really depends on what clock ratios the board will support you might want to check this before buying a new CPU. But the is basicly no info on that board I had a look around and found out it was made by ASUS but that's allI could find.

You could have a look it the bios and see what it will go up to
