Hmm.. still.. 50 degrees is pretty darn high, mine ran at 24 Celsius when idle when it was still stock, runs at 26 idle now @ 3.99Ghz and tops out at 38-40 on load

You *can* leave it the way it is, but you *can* also decrease the temps if you want. I personally would, because the temps could easily spike to 70+ and damage your CPU, which it might already have, and create an air bubble between your CPU core and the IHS plate and severely hamper heat transfer

I think its 345.

It's 775 for sure. Celeron D and 3.06 ghz for sure. And after post it says 3.06. So it is 3ghz. And 64 bit for sure.

Just forgot the exact model number.

Here's the issue. I was interested to see numbers so I removed the Heatsink and Fan and put the cheap white grease from frys. I went to 60c degrees. I said no good. So I wiped and reapplied the artic silver grey stuff. I only went down 5 degrees.

Must be the case. I'll try with the cover off tomorrow.

But I got a free coolermaster mystique 632 after rebate at frys over thanks giving.

Big case however, much bigger than my desktop. One fan in the front and one in back huge fan. 1 antec spot cool. 1 stock amd cpu cooler.

XP Barton 333 2800+ 512k cache.

And even without my pci blower I idle at 40-45c. A lot better and even with the cheap white grease.

So it might be the case.

The barton is my moms and the celeron d is mine.

Thanks

Ok so I installed a Thermaltake V1. Bios still says 50degrees. Speedfan also says 50degrees.

Plus now I have an antec spot cool, 1 front fan, 1 back 60mm fan, 1 cpu and power supply fan. Also a double PCI blower.

Sp it shouldn't be 50 anymore.

Wow. Ok. Now that's odd, you don't have an external thermometer or something you can stick on the heatsink and see if it's transferring heat? You can also just put your fingers on the heatsink, if it's hot-ish then it's transferring heat, but if it's barely warm then you know that the heat isn't being transferred. If the case is of the latter I would warrant to say an air bubble has formed behind the CPU plate cover.
I had that problem, mine was reading 50 degrees watercooled at stock, so I popped off the plate (and voided warranty) and stuck the block back on.. dropped to 23 degrees. Massive. But then I tightened the block too much and split the core and made a hole in it

I moved everything including the v1 into my antec P180. And I made more under desk space. It has 2 120mm fans. And better airflow and cable management. Also baught new PS 650W. Now the bois says 50s and 60s. But speedfan in XP says 40 - 45c. The Thermaltake V1 has 3 pin fan connector instead of 4. So bios is not accurate anymore as it can't monitor without the fourth pin. The speedfan reading is much better. I think its OK.

But the guy at krex said its not my fault. Vooltaghe is very high on cewleorn Ds and they run very hot. He said if I get core 2 duo I'd be mubch cooler as they draw very little power. Don't know if that's true.

Thanks,
ivnj

Yes, Core2s draw a lot less power and run much cooler.

The fact that there is only 3 pins changes nothing at all about accuracy of temperatures as Speedfan uses the same sensors that BIOS does. The 4th pin merely lets the motherboard control the speed of the fan, i.e. if the CPU is running cool, it'll slow down the fan, if the CPU is getting hot, it'll make the fan spin faster, if there isn't a 4th pin, the fan runs on maximum at all times.

You can try lowering the voltage of your CPU in the BIOS if you want
