Hi, I have a question about quad core processors. If I get a 2.66GHz Intel Quad core is the total speed split between the 4 cores? In other words, Does each core run at 650MHz for a total of 2.66GHz? Or is each core running at 2.66GHz? Any answers or help would be aphreciated.
hello persanity, welcome to PCHF
this is a common misconception. it is not a sum of the 4 cores, because then you might as well have a single core 2.66ghz cpu. no, each core operates at 2660 Mhz.
