Default [Resolved]core 2 duo E6400 problem

hi hope some one can help with my problem. ive got a msi ms7235 v1.0 Motherboard running window vista with intel core 2 duo E6400 the problem is i have is the gadget side bar only shows one core working and i installed the intel processor utility and that says one i working but the other is disabled. would be great if anybody can help.

Welcome to PCHF.

Right click on the Computer icon.
Left click on Manage.
Left click on Device Manager.
Double Left click on Processors.
Do a snapshot of the Computer Management window.
Recommend you post the snapshot with your next reply on this thread.

hi gandalf tried the link and followed the step by step but wont let me copy the device manager not having much luck am i ha ha! its says in the manager:

intel (R) core(TM)2 cpu 6400 @ 2.13ghz

if that helps at all and thanks for your help so far its been stressing me out

If the Device Manager only has one listing for the processor, then you only have one active processor. There should be two identical listings under Processors.

Therefore, you either have a malfunctioning E6400 or you installed the unit incorrectly.
There is a small chance that it could be your Motherboard, but my money's in the processor. If one of the pins is not seated correctly, you could get this kind of result.
