Processor/CPU - [Resolved]core 2 duo E6400 problem posted in the Hardware forums; only me agian checked the processor and seated ok is therew any way of testing the processor to confirm youre theory on the motherboard? when i first built the tower ...

only me agian checked the processor and seated ok is therew any way of testing the processor to confirm youre theory on the motherboard? when i first built the tower up it worked then just stopped working one day if that helps anymore?

There are to many variables to say for certain that this died or that died. While there are software monitors for temperature and fan speed, etc. only a checkup by a qualified tech can tell you for certain what has died. Your widget has shown you that a CPU is not working. The Device Manager has verified that only one CPU is being seen by the computer system.

In my opinion, you have two choices. One, replace the CPU. Two, take the computer into a certified tech. If it is the CPU that died, you can not be sure rather it died on its own or something else in the computer (such as the power supply or the CPU might have overheated) caused the CPU to die. If something else caused the CPU to die, then just replacing the CPU might cause it to die again. That is why I suggest you have a tech check out the computer.
