Hi

My Pc recently died on me, went to the computer shop and was "repaired". They gave me a brand new harddrive, saying the other one has gone kaput.

However now my PC keeps freezing at random times and the only way I can get it back on is by holding down the power button to switch off, then back on. Even then, it comes up with some message about there being a read error, but if I leave it a few hours its starts back up normally. Peculiar huh?

Please please help!

You paid for service-- and you are having this type of issue?

I would call the shop back and describe the issue-- a brand-new harddrive should not be having read errors.
Could be :

Bad new drive (it happens)

they must have reinstalled your software-- if they replaced the drive-- the install could have had errors (also happens)

I would also ask if they tested the Power-Supply. (they should have)-- if it is weak it could cause many issues.
