I bought a used pc from a friend that I want to use for school etc.
Anyway, the BIOS had a password on it that he didn't know. I've tried the few standardpasswords available on the internet but they didn't work so I took out the CMOSbattery for a few minutes. This did reset the BIOS so the password is at least gone.
When I rebooted the computer for the first time after the reset it went straight to the BIOS and I had to set the CPUspeed. I could choose from the following:
-
Manual
-
1150Mhz
-
1533Mhz
-
1917Mhz
-
2300Mhz
The problem is that I don't know wich to choose, the only thing I know the
CPU is a AMD Athlon 2600+, I think the speed is around 1917Mhz but I'm not sure. When I select either 1917Mhz or 2300Mhz I get the following warning:
Caution: According to CPU external frequency setting, system memory can only operate at frequency higher than or equal to 333 Mhz, please make sure the DRAM maximum frequency is not less than 333 Mhz.
So the problem is that I don't know wich speed to choose for the
CPU, could it damage if I choose 1917Mhz because of the warning?
Somewhere below the CPUsetting is a setting called
Memory Frequency (Mhz). I think this one has to do with the warning. I can set this setting at:
-
Auto
- 333
When I select
333 I get this warning:
Caution: only support 1 certified DDR400 module on this product. For the certified module list, please check the manual or visit ASUS website for it's update.
So, the question is:
wich CPUspeed do I need to select?
Thanks in advance,
Robin
