Processor/CPU - q6600 temperatures too high, please help posted in the Hardware forums; I recently purchased a q6600. Idle, my temperatures are around 50. I have re-applied new thermal paste but have yet to achieve lower temp. Can anyone help me?...

I recently purchased a q6600.

Idle, my temperatures are around 50.

I have re-applied new thermal paste but have yet to achieve lower temp.

Can anyone help me?

Welcome to the PCHF boombastick...i've got the same CPU and it runs at around 30degC...40ish under load (heavy load).

hmmmm....are you overclocking at all?
Dust in the heatsink?

I just use the one that's packaged with the CPU

What case do you have? This could effect the temperature quite alot...also cable management. Do you have cables just everywhere, or are they tucked away, nice and neat?

I have a silverstone case.

I also tidied up my cables quite a bit.

This is the heatsink I am using.
Scythe Ninja-PLUS Rev B Socket 478, 754, 940, 775, 939 & AM2 CPU Cooler
