Unhappy [Pending] First PC build. Won't start up right.

Hi, I just attempted to build my first PC, i was very careful and made sure i grounded myself before touching anything inside it. I finally got it built this afternoon, (the Power Supply Unit came in finally) and when i try to turn it on, it starts for about 5 sec. then shuts off. i have an ASUS Motherboard, am2 socket, 2gb corsair xms2 ram, samsung t series spinpoint 500gb sata hdd, 2 identical asus dvd-burners, both sata, msi geforce 8600 pci-e, amd athlon 6000x2. I started it up with the side pannel off, everything seems to be working, the fans on the Power Supply Unit both spin, both fans in my case spin, the fan on the heatseak spins, the fan on my v-card spin, the light on my Motherboard is on. EVERYTHING seems to be working, i just can't figure out whats wrong with it. oh and I have a HIPER 580 watt Power Supply Unit, not sure what model.
Any help appreciated, thanks.

Heya Crazymanjared Welcome to PCHF

I recently responded to a thread almost identical to your problem. Read my response in this thread - http://www.pchelpforum.com/computer-...5-fubared.html - and see if that info helps you.

Let me know from there

Well i read that whole page, nothing helped. I really doubt its my pwr supply. The light on the back is steady, and the LED lights inside come on when i turn the system on, and both fans in the PSU spin when i turn the comp on. My heatsink/fan came with my processor and had a thermal tape thing on the bottom. My mobo isn't sitting directly on the case either, i got the standoff things under it and its installed correctly, the light on the mobo comes on and stays on the whole time the psu is plugged in and turned on. i've taken out my ram completely and started up my comp. Same exact thing happend, i unplugged my hdd completely, same thing. I moved my g-card to a different slot, no luck. I unplugged both my dvd drives, no luck.

It has to be a bad motherboard. I can't even think of what else you can try...

At least it is new and you can get an exchange.
