i got a hard drive from someone i know, tried to see what's on it by connecting it to my pc as a slave, nothing happened it's like the drive wasn't there, so i connected the jumpers on forcing dev 1 present on the back of this drive, now my pc don't want to start up, it make a funny start up noise, one i've never heard before, lights come on but the screen stays blank, what do you think it could be.

I have a feeling you may have knocked something or dislodged something whilst you were changing the drive. Triple check all connections inside your case.
