depends on what you plan on doing. if you are a VERY heavy multitasker, with very demanding apps, like hd video editing, go with the quad core, but if you are a "relaxed' user, aka web browsing, gaming, etc, go witht eh dual core. the dual core will outperform the quad core in most conditions, because there are currently not many programs that will make use of all 4 cores. the 3ghz speed will give you plenty of power, not to mention half the power consumption and heat output of the q6600. go with the E6850

I just upgraded my PC to a 2.4 quad core 8Mb cache and 4gb of ram and a new graphics card. I'm tellin you it K**ks A** run very well I wanted the 2.6 CPU but the price diference I could not justify.

I am just getting 2 GB of RAM at 800 Mhz cuz Vista will only use 3-3.5 GB anyways so....

I'm getting the 640 MB GeFroce 8800 graphics card so that'll be a good time.

I probably agree that the Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 Ghz will be faster for me than the quad core @ 2.4 GHz.

I have the Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 GHz right now.
