Processor/CPU - overheating p4 posted in the Hardware forums; was not 10 minutes straight ,it wouldnt run that long ,has thermal protection built in motherboard shuts pc off when it gets hot ,but that is what i am looking ...

I still believe this is what has happened now...Your first step would be to find if a friend has the same/similar CPU as you, and see if it works.
If so, that's your problem.
If not - then it could be something else.

Intel CPU are always running hot even in Europe. How can we expect it to run cool.
I have 2 PCs with Prescott P4 3.2GHz running hot for last 3 years, complaining all the time but Intel people not listening at all.

Why not change to Athelon?
