Thumbs down [Fixed] Powers off in ten sec, no video

I have just finished upgrading my PC to a Intel quad core (x6600) with 8 gigs (2x4) of ddr 6400, I'm using the abit Fatality F-190HD mother board with no video card (has a good enough built in). I have 2 dvd burners, 2 IDE hds and a maxtor sata 500 as my main drive. I'm also using a 750 watt silverstone strider power supply in a clear acrylic case, and using a 37in LCD 1080p monitor with a crt 21in in a dual screen setup.

Now that I have it all hooked together, it won't turn on for more than 15 sec and gives no video signal, The speaker just gives a constant, fast beep before it dies.

I've cleared the cmos and more than triple checked the jumper settings on my crives and even started off simple and minimal, but always with the same effect.

Anyone got any ideas what I'm missing?

Hi Jepto,
Welcome,
There are a couple of thing that I can think of offhand.
First, check that your Heatsink is on correctly
Second, make sure that the fan is properly plugged in (my system complains big time if I've forgotten that)
Third, make sure all your memory is properly seated.
Let us know how that goes

I took my memory out and re-instlled again, and that actualy did the trick..... well, sorta. I can now get into bios just briefly enough to notice that my new quad core is having some major overheating issues. well, on to the next problem. guess i'll just goto frys and get some beast of a cooler for this chip. any recomendations?

Hi jepeto, anything Zalman is really good
Cool, quiet...and stupidly big

Also...ensure you have applied the right amount of thermal paste...too much is bad, too little is bad.

You need a thin layer over the whole dye of the CPU...normally around paper thin...tiny bit thicker.

oh. i looked it up in newegg. The reviews for it say that there is BIOS setup issues. Apparently, you need to use very low voltage RAM. if you can get to BIOS, try manually setting the RAM voltage to 1.8v. lots of peopel are also reporting boards just randomly dying for no reason.
