Centrino Core Duo (dual core, duh)
Pentium M (it's designed for mobile enviornments)
Pentium 4 (not designed for mobile enviornments, also not dual core)

If you're looking for more bang for your buck, go AMD.

Not considering battery life, I would probably take the Athalon because of speed. 64 bit problems seem to be diminishing. But it would mostly depend on the battery life the laptop gets with the Athalon. If it only gets 2 hrs with the Athalon and 4 with the Intel, I would go intel.

Wait for others to come on and weigh in, there are people who know a ton more about hardware than I do.

eitehr the Core2 Duo, or the TurionX2.... hmmm.. i would go with the Centrino. it is based on teh new Core Architecture, is more energy efficient, and produces much less heat than the AMD one does. Also, it has much better performance. The new Core2 CPUs far outperform AMD at much lower clock speeds, lower heat and power
