Default Bleeping noise

HI, I have been working on my old Packard Bell computer for quite a while now and every time I start it up there is this 2 tone bleeping noise coming from the computer speaker. It starts as soon as you turn it on and stops after a min or so. Could it be the small bat in the computer as it is about 10 years old. It will even do it if I start it off when I press F2.

Well, here's a shot in the dark - try not to swear when you boot it up .

Meh, sorry, couldn't resist.....anyway, you'll have to give us more infomation, as Hengis said, the model number would be a good start .

To me it sounds like something to do with the BIOS...but i could be wrong...

Thanks Thing...it will be related (probably) to a faulting piece of hardware. Knowing the PC make and model will enable us to find out the motherboard and ultimately the bios version....then we can look at those beeps

Sorry about that, I should have known better than to ask a question without this information. It is a Packard Bell : NEC P480103401, and has a Motherboard which is a Micro Star : MS6506 1.0. The Bios is an American Megatrends 07.00 T (04/02/2001).

HI, not sure, but it last for about a min or so, weather it is loading windows or not. It does not come up with anything just this 2 tone bleeping. If windows is loading up it will lockup within the min, but then if you start it up again it starts off in safe mode and then you can restart windows and then it will go in and run.
Not sure if that makes any sence.
